This thesis topic is aimed at students interested in mobile development, AI (+ ideally design and architecture). The student implements a mobile application (iOS/Android, with a suitable cross-platform language) that collects worker photographs of their workstations and implements the Experience Sampling Method to collect further datapoints to enrich the collected dataset. The backend of the mobile application uses online APIs for vision analysis to detect and quantify environmental elements (nature, built environment, people, furniture).
The outcome is a scientific experiment, and a short data collection period with real end-users, where the application is deployed on study participants’ personal devices. Further reading: Interdisciplinary approach to defining outdoor places of knowledge work: quantified photo analysis / Section 4 in particular, on what kind of data could be collected through Experience Sampling.
NB. At the moment, this is an unpaid thesis opportunity. While we are constantly looking for grants and other ways to compensate for theses, we do not currently have a paid position available for this topic.
